I had the great pleasure of being interviewed recently for the Cultivate Wellness Podcast sponsored by Peoples Rx here in Austin, TX (one of my practice locations). I have known the host, Brad Swail, for almost a decade, since we worked together at his family's pharmacy. I have always appreciated his enthusiasm and passion for holistic health. Brad led a fantastic, insightful and fun interview.
We discuss SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth), what it is, the different types, how to know you have it (spoiler alert - we discuss farts!), why treating it can be so difficult, and how testing and treating are often done incorrectly. I also share new clinical insights I gleaned from attending the cutting edge SIBO conference earlier this year. Later in the interview we branch out and explore one of my favorite topics, SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms). I explain the difference between genetic diseases and the subtle, functional shifts that can come from having SNP mutations. Brad and I compare notes on genes and genomics. All in all, I had a great time! Thanks again to Brad Swail for the opportunity to be on the podcast!
